A festival of culture and nature called “Vidra Fest” (“vidra” means “otter”) will be held on September 10 and 11 on several locations around Lake Skadar. The festival has grown into a tradition — it is being held for the fourth time in a row. Organized by the Project Office For Local Communities Improvement of Lake Skadar, the festival has a goal of presenting the cultural heritage, the beauty of the nature, tourist and gastronomical offerings of the Lake Skadar region.
The mascot of this year’s festival is an otter — an animal protected by law and one of the endangered species living in the lake region. The festival will be consisted of many activities — from windsurfing to kayaking, sport fishing, bicycle races and hiking (with more than 200 participants expected). As far as the music segment of the festival is concerned, there will be three bands performing: one Montenegrin band called “Senkina đeca”, one Serbian band called “Killo Killo” and the most famous of them, a Croatian band “Jinx”.
The partners of the project are the Montenegrin Ministry of Culture, which is the institutional leader of the project, the Ministry of Development and Tourism, but also the municipalities of Podgorica, Bar and Cetinje. The project was also given support by the National Parks of Montenegro and the National Park of Lake Skadar.
