According to Novaya Gazeta, a high percentage of Montenegro property is owned by Russians.
Russian daily “Novaya Gazeta” investigated the possessions of Russia’s elite, and found out that Russian investors were extremely interested in buying Montenegrin properties.
The process of buying Montenegrin properties by Russians has started several years ago. Hotel Splendid (Budva) is one of the Russian-owned hotels in Montenegro. There is also a Russian-language school in Budva, which is just another indicator of Russian presence in Montenegro.
Why is Montenegro attractive to Russians? For the same reason it is attractive to everyone else: beautiful coastline, fast-growing tourism sector, affordable real estate and low cost of living.
Russian investors are also very interested in Bulgaria. Nearly 100,000 Russian investors have already bought properties along the Bulgarian coast.
