Montenegro Started Participating in GDDS of International Monetary Fund

Montenegro started participating in General Data Dissemination System of International Monetary Fund yesterday. This was an important step toward a more developed statistical system. Montenegro’s information on dissemination practices and statistical production can be seen on the DS Bulletin Board of IMF.

General Director of Montenegrin Statistical Office, Ms Gordana Radojevic, said that Montenegro would be using General Data Dissemination System of International Monetary Fund as framework to keep developing the system that will comply with the best international patterns and practices. In this way, statistics that are more reliable will be created and disseminated.

The IMF Statistics Department Director, Ms Adelheid Burgi-Schmelz, said that participating of Montenegro in General Data Dissemination System was a cardinal point in the development of statistics in this country. She said she was confident that using General Data Dissemination System would have positive effects.

The IMF General Data Dissemination System (established in 1997) helps countries with establishing their own statistical systems, in order to produce accurate and comprehensive statistics. Today, General Data Dissemination System has 102 participating countries (including Montenegro).
