Montenegro and Slovenia Sign Development Cooperation Program

Montenegro and Slovenia have signed a Program of International Development Cooperation for 2011 and 2012. The new program is a follow-on for a one-year program for the year 2010.

The program was signed by Ramiz Bašić, the Director General of the Department for Bilateral Affairs of Montenegro, and Ms. Alenka Suhadolnik, the Acting Director of the General Directorate for International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of Slovenia.

The two-year development program will consist of:

  • Development projects aimed at strengthening economic and social infrastructure in two main areas: the economy and environmental protection, social services and infrastructure.
  • Bilateral technical assistance projects aimed at enhancing administrative capacities and modernizing public administration in Montenegro.
  • Other forms of cooperation, including planned development activities of Slovenian implementing institutions in Montenegro, support for projects of non-governmental organizations, projects by services of general interest, and projects carried out on the regional level in or for several partner countries at one time.

In addition to the projects initiated in the new Program, some projects from the 2010 Program will continue in operation.  The Republic of Slovenia has allocated two million Euros for the program over the next two years.
