Montenegro Adopts Draft Law on Civil Servants

The Montenegrin government has adopted the Draft Law on Civil Servants as part of the Action Plan to qualify for EU membership.

Interior Minister Ivan Brajović stated that the law is aimed at advancement of civil servants professionalism, depoliticization of state administration and strengthening of fair employment and merit-based promotion policies.

The Draft Law on Civil Servants is designed to reduce conflicts of interest in public employees, protect those who report corruption, and protect personal data.

The new law complies with European Commission’s recommendations for state administration reform.
