Montenegro is accessing the World Trade Organization on Saturday, December 17. The ceremony will take place in Geneva. The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Igor Luksic will represent his country at the ceremony.
The membership in this organization has been one of the priorities of Montenegro for a long time. Now, the country has the chance to enter modern international trends and improve its own economy. Montenegro submitted the application for membership in the World Trade Organization in 2004.
One of the accession commitments is to liberalize the trade regime and make more efforts to integrate into the global economy. Montenegro will also have to provide a predictable and transparent environment for foreign investments.
Montenegro’s Protocol of Accession and other WTO rules will be applied throughout the territory of the country (including all territories controlled by Montenegro).
