Montenegrin athletes will represent their country at the Games of the Small States of Europe for the first time in Vaduz Liechtenstein starting on Monday.
Participants in the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) are Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, and San Marino. The games have been held since 1985 and this is the first year that Montenegro has been allowed to compete. The games are open to European nations with populations below one million and Montenegro was unanimously accepted into the GSSE in 2009.
Thirty-three Montenegrin athletes will participate in the games, competing in table tennis, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Our best wishes go out to all of our athletes.
