The Porto Montenegro Yacht Club will be holding an International Match Race from 29 June to 1 July. For sailors, the race will feature Porto’s new Blu26 boats. For spectators, the race will feature food and entertainment at one of Montenegro’s best destinations.
The Blu26 boats are 8 meter racing sloops from noted Swiss sailor Christian “Blumi” Scherrer and yacht designer Christian Bolinger. Blumi Scherrer is the organizer of the famous St. Moritz Match Race, where the Blu26 design is also sailed. The Blu26’s feature an aggressive sail plan which gives them a natural advantage on the gentle waters of the Boka Bay.
The fun will begin at 6:30pm on Thursday evening with the Skipper’s Briefing at the Yacht Club, followed by a cocktail event at Purobeach to welcome everyone the race. Races will be held Friday and Saturday from 11am to 7pm, and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Dinner on Saturday evening will be 8pm at the ONE Restaurant. Prizes for the winners will be awarded on Sunday evening at 6pm, followed by an after-party at Mitsu. Mitsu is Porto’s new Japanese bar in the Milena building. The chef is Mitsuteru Arai, who brings authentic Japanese cuisine to Montenegro in a classy yet casual atmosphere.
