Film Festival Herceg Novi is scheduled to start tomorrow (August 1st) and is supposed to last until August 7th. The projections will be held at several locations — Kanli Kula, the Forte Mare fortress, Belavista and the amphitheater of the Theater of Herceg Novi. The festival will be opened by a famous Russian director Pavel Lungin, who is the author of the popular movie “Island”. Apart from a very rich film selection that will be shown at the festival, a refreshment in this year’s festival are student movies, made by students from universities from all around Montenegro and the Balkans in general (Beograd, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Skoplje, Ljubljana, Novi Sad i Cetinje).
The mayor of Herceg Novi Dejan Mandić has held a press conference yesterday and said that he is going to do everything in his power for this festival to be at the highest level possible. He said that the organization will be flawless and that they want to make this festival a strong regional one. The festival’s director Zoran Živković said that there will be 90 films participating in the festival, as well as two premieres — “More ljubavi” by Đorđe Mirović and “As pik” by Draško Đurović, both Montenegrin directors.
The jury is consisted of several high profile names — Milena Marković, a famous screenplay writer, Ademir Kenović and Vladimir Blaževski, both popular directors.
